Gardening with the Vesta Family
Although we got a late start planting due to chicken coop renovations and a wildly wet Spring (are you sick of hearing about this yet?), we are pleased to report that our crops are growing. In fact, we are still hoping to make our first appearance at a Wisconsin farmer’s market this month. Stay tuned on our social media channels for our exact start date, but we’re proud to be future vendors of the Village of Strum and Seymour Farmer’s Market.
Farm Plans
We are thoroughly enjoying the Midwest summer weather, being outside as much as possible as we fix up the outbuildings and spruce up the landscaping around the farm. Our list of to-do’s includes figuring out where on the farm we will be selling (in the coming years), expanding our growth and the infrastructure needed to support that. We built some laying boxes for the chickens and continue to work on the coop while we patiently await our first egg. We also need to clean out the existing greenhouse and set up the one we brought from Florida. We are all working hard, but also trying to enjoy the process along the way!

Summer Fun
We have been busy soaking up the sun via fishing up in our favorite spot in Hayward, WI as well as exploring the local lakes in and around Eau Claire and Chippewa. Did you know Wisconsin actually has more lakes than it’s neighbor Minnesota, the land of 10,000 lakes? We had a great start to July with a fireworks celebration at a friend’s property and an Eau Claire Express game. We used to attend Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp games back in Florida, the AAA affiliate of the Miami Marlins, so this is the next best thing! The boys also got to see the Cubs play the Twins at Target Field in Minneapolis with their grandparents. We love having them here for the summer! They’re working so hard on the farm, so it’s been great to have some fun together too.

The Vestas
We loved this sign at Together Farms in Mondovi, WI where we went for our anniversary dinner. If you’re in the area, we recommend them for local, grass-fed burgers! This sign is a great reminder to guard your thoughts by making sure to water the good and weed out the bad.
